Spring 2017: That’s a Wrap!

There we have it…another semester has come and gone. Another school year has finished faster than we ever thought it would. Since this is the last week of classes before finals, this is also our last blog of the semester. While the only thought that may be on most of our minds is having a relaxing and refreshing summer, I thought it would be a great idea to reflect on all of Off-Campus Student Services accomplishments this spring. Before we say farewell for now, here is a brief description of some of our amazing events held this semester.

Our Welcome Back Event

This was the first event of the spring semester held on January 18th and was a great success with over 85 students who joined us for coffee and scones! We love welcoming our off-campus and commuter students back to campus for the start of a great semester!

The Valentines Day Morning Welcome

Morning Welcomes are a tradition for Off-Campus Student Services, and multiple times every month we visit different commuter lots around 7:30 in the morning to greet commuter students with delicious breakfast food and giveaways. Love was definitely in the air at this Morning Welcome with heart-shaped donuts on February 14th!

The Spring Housing Fair!

The Housing Fair is by far our biggest event of the entire semester. We had over 600 students in attendance talking with property managers to look at future apartments and off-campus homes, and on top of that SO many amazing prizes to win! This semester’s theme on March 9th was “spring break” and we had a blast putting it together for you all to enjoy!

Commuter Appreciation Week!

Commuter Appreciation Week is all about showing commuters how much we appreciate their efforts driving back and forth to campus every day. We plan a fun event for each day of the week for commuters and off-campus students to enjoy. Commuter Appreciation Week this semester was held April 3rd through the 7th, and the picture above features our Soup to Nuts Vehicle Demonstration on Fairfield Way.

Free Throw Shooting Contest!

free throw

Off-Campus Student Services hosted this event a few years ago, and we decided to bring it back this spring. Students who lived in Hunting Lodge apartments had a chance to shoot some free throws in order to win some awesome prizes on April 9th. On top of that, we provided sandwiches and chips for students that participated. This event will likely become an annual tradition because due to its success!

As you can see, Off-Campus Student Services had so much fun this spring hosting educational, resourceful, and tasteful events for off-campus and commuter students to enjoy. We cannot believe how fast this semester flew by, but we look forward to continuing these traditions and coming up with even more events to host for you all!

Good luck with finals, and have a FANTASTIC summer huskies!
