Hometown: Groton, CT
Commuting From: Willington, CT
Why did you choose to live off-campus? My parents own property near campus, so tuition is a lot cheaper.
In what way are you involved with the UConn community even though you live off-campus? I am involved in many culture clubs, as well as Filipino American Student Association, Chinese Undergraduate Student Association, and Vietnamese Student Association.
How has living off-campus made you grow as an individual? I’ve noticed that I do make more of an effort to make relationships and value them, because of the fact that it’s not as easy to make friends while I’m not living on campus like other students.
What is one thing you love about being a commuter student? One thing I love is that it is comfortable living at home, instead of having to adjust my lifestyle to roommates and/or communal bathrooms.
If you could give any advice to a freshman commuter student, what would it be? I recommend joining clubs and making as many relationships as possible, because it can get lonely only driving to school and back.
Where is your favorite place to be on campus? Wherever my friends are!
What are your plans/goals for the future? My plans are to find a stable paying job in my field, save up, and adventure across the world.
