- You’ve outgrown your dorm room
It is such an exciting time coming to college for your freshman year and finding out who our roommates are…but I bet you are looking forward to walking just a few steps instead of down the hallway into your own bathroom, and having a queen size bed in your own room! Off-campus living can provide you with this luxury.
2. You want to start becoming more independent
Living off-campus does mean more responsibilities, but it will only help you in the long run to become a more organized, responsible adult who’s getting a taste of what it’s like to live in the real world. Always remember that Off-Campus Student Services is a great resource for you should any issues arise during your off-campus living experience!
3. There are going to be over 30 vendors to talk with
The Housing Fair is the perfect time to see just how many living options are available to you. Talk with property managers and learn more about how to find an apartment or house that fits your needs perfectly. Consider how many bedrooms, bathrooms, and amenities you need as well as your preferred distance to campus as you chat with property managers.
4. There will be FREE food, a smoothie bar, and SO many prizes!
Are you in need of a TV, Keurig, gift cards, and many other cool prizes? By swiping your ID at the Spring 2017 Housing Fair-you will be sent a survey. By completing the survey, you will be entered to win some awesome prizes…so don’t miss out on this great opportunity!
5. It’s a perfect opportunity to plan ahead, a skill that is very important for living off-campus
Even if you aren’t ready to take that step to move off-campus, it’s always a good idea to come to the Housing Fair to see what your options are in order to plan for the rest of your time here at UConn.
The Spring Housing Fair will be on Thursday, March 9th from 10am-3pm in the Student Union Ballroom, so mark your calendars!
